Trinity church has a history of fine music in its worship celebrations. Our choral repertory spans centuries and is enriched by robust hymn singing and organ music played on our exceptionally fine instrument.
The choir is made up entirely of volunteer singers who give generously of their time and talent. New singers are always welcome. There are no formal auditions; all that is required is a love of music and a willingness to be faithful. The choir rehearses from Labor Day until the Feast of Pentecost on Sunday mornings from 8:30 am until the service begins at 9 AM.
One of our newest approaches is the incorporation of local instrumentalists into our worship. Torrington has an exceptionally fine music program in its public schools and our goal is to provide young people with an opportunity to share their talents with our worshiping community.
The Trinity Arts Series provides a number of concerts during the year, including an annual memorial organ recital. In addition to this outreach to the community several other musical events are planned for the year and dates and information will be available from this website or by calling the parish office. Unfortunately, organ recitals have been curtailed until the planned renovation of our instrument is completed. (Note: The Trinity Arts Series is not active at this time.)
You are invited to join us in the music making at Trinity church. Music is a vital part of our liturgies, enriching our worship, providing an opportunity to express our joy in Godís love and grace, and providing solace in times of sadness. We think youíll enjoy being a part of our community of faithful music makers.
Our parish choir sings at the 9:00 Eucharist each Sunday from the first Sunday after Labor Day through the Feast of Pentecost. There are no auditions: all are welcome who love to sing and are willing to be faithful.
Rehearsals are held on Sunday mornings from 8:30 a.m. until the service begins. While the choir sings additional services, including Choral Evensong, from time to time there are rarely additional rehearsals.
This delightful and talented group of singers enjoy each otherís company, being of service to the parish, and participating in some of the great choral literature. A list of the music planned for this group may be found in the section entitled Music Repertory.
You are invited to join this wonderful group. Let Dr. D. (Jerry Davidson, email@example.com) know that you'd like to be a part of the music-making at Trinity Parish.
