Dear Part-time Priest,
We are looking forward to meeting you! We are a downtown church in Torrington (pop: 37,000), the largest city in the beautiful hills of Northwest Connecticut. We have a long and proud association with our hometown. Torrington has affordable housing and every amenity of life within a short distance.
In the past few years, many wonders have occurred at Trinity. We are looking for someone bold, imaginative and compassionate to keep our momentum going. We are a church empowered to make a difference. We know we are capable of doing great things when we work as a group. Trinity has a strong base of committed, talented volunteers and leaders. We need a Spiritual Leader to appreciate, respect, and guide us to be the best we can be for each other, the community, and the world.
We are the “Church That Can.” Three years ago, we had to discern whether to leave our historic building because of overwhelming, long overdue repairs. Few believed we could raise the funds necessary to stay, yet we exceeded our targeted goal. This group exercise not only brought us closer, but it also illustrated our commitment to remain downtown in order to best do Christ’s work in our community. Our outreach begins within our own walls, as we house the Torrington Soup Kitchen and Operation Overflow shelter, as well as several AA/NA groups.
Trinity is a parish that reaches out to lift up each other and our neighbors. We sustain ourselves, and our church family, through meaningful Sunday worship. Our talented choir and dedicated altar guild enhance our services. On a typical Sunday, you will see parishioners of all ages participating in worship together, people celebrating milestones in their lives, and lots of smiles, handshakes, and hugs. We cherish diversity and strive to communicate that “All Are Welcome” at Trinity Church. In the past three years, we have grown our pastoral care leadership to better serve those who aren’t able to attend the service. Our children deepen their relationship with God through Godly Play. Formation groups allow our youth and adults to grow in their faith.
We believe that God has given us what we need, so we ask, “What is God calling us to do?” We have a strong sense of integrity, doing the right thing even when it is difficult. We seek a Priest who can deepen and cultivate our spirituality as we journey together, putting Christ’s words into action with grace. We hope you will join us in fellowship and service!
