The Tower Society of Trinity Church

Living Gifts for Generations

Who Come After Us

The Tower Society

The purpose of the Tower Society is to encourage and enable people to put Trinity Episcopal Church in their wills, and to recognize those who have done so.

Benefits

Members of the Tower Society know that they have looked beyond this life and made provision for the continuing financial support of their Christian community.

Trinity’s Endowment Fund represents the desire of concerned Christians to continue their stewardship. Most active Christians have given regularly during their lifetimes, of God’s gifts for the extension of God’s Kingdom, and those gifts represent their grateful response to God’s goodness.

It is entirely appropriate that such faithful stewardship continue as a witness to what has been important to them, and the endowment represents an opportunity for that to happen.

How to Become a Member

A person becomes a member of the Tower Society when he or she makes a provision for Trinity Episcopal Church through some form of planned gift, which is some form of ultimate distribution of assets.

Forms of Planned Gifts to Trinity

The appropriate planned gift vehicle is detemined by one’s individual circumstance and may provide significant tax advantages to the donor. Some of the most commons forms are:

Gift in Life: a gift of cash, securities, or other assets, such as real estate.

Bequest: provided for loved ones, the church, and others through a provision in the donor’s Will.

Life Insurance: allows a large gift at small cost giving a new or existing policy

or by designating  the church as beneficiary of all or part of an existing policy.

Vehicles Available through the Episcopal Church Foundation and the Torrington Area Foundation for Planned Giving

Charitable Remainder Trust: allows a donor to receive income for life while making

a major gift to the church.

Revocable Living Trust: allows a gift of assets to be made while retaining the right

                     to retrieve those assets later.

Charitable Lead Trust: allows a donor to give income to the church for a period with

the assets later returned to a family member or other beneficiary.

Parish Use of Planned Gifts

Planned gifts to Trinity will be placed in the endowment unless otherwise specified by the donor. The income and accumulated appreciation of such gifts will keep our historic building beautiful and functional for generations to come and enable new programs.

The Planned Giving Committee is ready to help in exploring various ways to make a planned gift to the church. We have each made our own commitment to the parish through a planned gift and would be happy to speak with you about the importance of such gifts.

Current members are:   Roberta August, Roger Coutant, Jim Garfield, Carlton Taylor.

For further information about the Trinity Tower Society or any aspect of planned giving, please contact one of the above members or call the church office at (860) 482-6027.
