Torrington Community Soup Kitchen at Trinity

The Torrington Community Soup Kitchen has been in operation since 1983 and is proud to serve the entire county of Litchfield Connecticut (not just Torrington). The Kitchen is located in the lower level of our Rectory Building their entrance is on Maiden Lane.

 Their mission is a commitment to provide a nutritious meal to ANY INDIVIDUAL who, for whatever reason, is unable to provide a proper meal for him/herself.

 Their operating budget is supported solely by the generous donations from the public and through grants.

 Even though the Community Kitchen does not receive local, state or federal funding, they served 38,971 meals during 2008. This number included over 200 children.  An average of 90 - 122 meals per day were served.

 The Soup Kitchen serves their Noon-time Meal seven days a week - Monday thru Saturday from 11:30am to 12:30pm  and  Sunday from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.    Volunteers assist daily and weekends with the food preparation, serving, and clean up.

 The Community Soup Kitchen is more than just a site to receive a nutritious hot meal. It is a place people come to for daily contact with others and a place that provides an opportunity for individuals to meet staff from area agencies and programs for assistance with the many needs and problems they experience. The soup kitchen serves people from all walks of life, including homeless individuals and families and the working disadvantaged.
